Why search every low and high, when good things could not be closer by

The white and blue information pillars in Tittling and Witzmannsberg point out striking points in the communities.
Did you already know, for example, that there are dinosaurs in the Bavarian Forest or have you ever heard of Tittlinger and Witzmannsberger Gold and do you know the song from Blümersberg?

This information is not only of interest to holiday guests, but also to the local population. In addition to local history school knowledge that has long been forgotten, there is also a lot of new information, all of which should not be forgotten, but simply belong to the "local history general knowledge" for us and the coming generations.

The Mushroom Path (Schwammerlweg)

Starting point: Tittling, district of Rothau, fountain at the forest car park at the "Seehof Tauer" inn

Following the marking, the path leads us through pine and spruce forest to the Höhenberg (603 m above sea level).
A short side path on the northern slope of the Höhenberg leads to an attractive vantage point with a view of the Saldenburg. Then we continue to the village of Stützersdorf.

At the entrance to the village we turn left into a side path and follow this to Unteröd, where we come back to the starting point according to the markings on the left side of the Dreiburgensee.
There are refreshment stops at the "Seehof Tauer" or on the other side of the lake at the "Mühlhiasl" inn and in future also at the Hotel Dreiburgensee.

The gold trail

Circular hiking trail, approx. 12 km, 3 hours

In order not to let the historical gold deposits in parts of the municipality of Witzmannsberg and the Tittling market be forgotten, the gold trail was designated in 2000. Starting from the Schrottenbaummühle, the path leads to the so-called Seifenhügeln (soap hills) in the Eppendorfer Forest.

Up until the Thirty Years' War, the sandy material was "washed" in small streams on these hills. The heavy gold grains remained in the washing facilities. The excess sand created the soap mounds.
The hike then continues via Muth to the Schneidermühle on the Ilz. On the Ilz hiking trail downriver, after approx. 5 km you reach the starting point at the Schrottenbaummühle.

Der Dreiburgensee Wanderweg

Ausgangsort: Tittling, Dreiburgenstraße, Einfahrt zum Aldi-Markt, Zauneck links

Der Weg beginnt am Zauneck links vom Aldi-Markt und führt durch ein Wiesental hinunter nach Rothau und von dort weiter zum Dreiburgensee und zum Museumsdorf Bayerischer Wald mit seinen vielen alten bäuerlichen Anwesen und der ältesten Schule Deutschlands.

Nach einem Rundgang lohnt es sich nebenan einzukehren im urigen Gasthaus "Mühlhiasl", welches nach dem Waldpropheten "Mühlhiasl" benannt wurde.

Hiking trail to the small Aschenstein

Circular hiking trail, length 14 km, hiking time 3 hours, 520 m ascent

Between the Geißlstein and the Aschstein, this viewing rock rises 913 m from the Bavarian Forest. In the foehn situation you will be rewarded with a view far into the Alps.
